Each summer, millions of baby birds, squirrels, fawns and other wild animals are born into the world. Their parents are programmed to take care of them until they are on their own. But when humans and wildlife occupy the same habitat, it is not unusual to come upon one of these babies.
Carolina Wildlife Care exists to give injured and orphaned animals a second chance at life during their time of crisis. But in reality, no one can do as good a job as the animal’s mother and every effort should be made to reunite a healthy baby with its parents.
Please DO NOT attempt to give a wild baby anything to eat or drink without first speaking to a rehabilitator. Wild animals have very different needs, and giving it the wrong thing can cause severe illness, or even result in death.
IT IS A FEDERAL OFFENSE UNDER THE MIGRATORY BIRD ACT TO CARE FOR A MIGRATORY BIRD WITHOUT A FEDERAL PERMIT.
