WELCOME TO THE FIRST ANNUAL CAROLINA WILDLIFE CARE WALK/RUN FOR WILDLIFE

Join other animal lovers on Saturday, November 3, 2007, in downtown Lexington for the First Annual 5K Walk/Run for the Wild Side and be a part of something exciting!

Your participation in the event will ensure we reach our fundraising goal that will help the hundreds of injured or orphaned wildlife in our community each year.

What does the Walk cost?
The entrance fee is $25 per person.  This includes your official Walk/Run for the Wild Side t-shirt. 

What is the deadline for registration?
In order to take advantage of the $25 registration fee, your registration must be postmarked no later than FRIDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2007.  After that date, the registration fee increases to $30.  Late registrations are not guaranteed to receive an official Walk/Run for the Wild Side t-shirt.  Registrations will also be accepted the day of the race.

Okay, we have registered, now what?
First, tell your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, classmates and anyone else about the Walk/Run for the Wild Side.  Collect donations from others who want to help South Carolina’s wildlife and bring it with you the day of the event!  The more you are able to raise, the better Carolina Wildlife Care will be able to reach its fundraising goal provide the financial support needed to aid wildlife in its time of crisis.  Every $25 you raise provides invaluable resources like medical supplies, food, and caging for injured and orphaned wildlife from throughout the Midlands.  Collect change - empty those piggy banks! Remember that no donation is too large or small!

Fundraising incentives*
The more you raise to help wildlife, the greater your reward!  Incentive prizes include:

$100 donation(s)         A beautiful, matted 5”x7” photo of a rehabilitated CWC wildlife patient
$250 donation(s)         An embroidered Carolina Wildlife Care golf cap or visor
$500 donation(s)         An embroidered Carolina Wildlife Care canvas tote bag
$1,000 donation (s)     A special private tour of the CWC wildlife center for a family/group of four and CWC  
                                   T-shirts for everyone!

*Incentive prizes will be mailed after the event and are based on individual fundraising efforts.

Age Categories
5K Run/Walk age categories: 17 and under, 18–24, 25–29, 30–34, 35–39, 40–44, 45–49, 50–54, 55–59, 60–64, 65–69, 70+.

Prizes:
Prizes will be awarded to each male and female who place 1st, 2nd or 3rd in each age category for the 5K Run. The male
and female with the best time overall will receive a special recognition award. The 5K walk will be a fun,non-competitive walk, but recognition awards will be given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place walkers. Medals will be awarded to everyone in the 1 mile Kids Fun Run. No awards can be mailed.

Can't Make the Event?  Walk In Spirit!
You can still make a difference by clicking on the ”Donate Directly" link on our website. Or, become one of our “virtual walkers” and recruit a team of donors and walkers to walk in your own neighborhood to raise money for wildlife at Carolina Wildlife Care that day!

Event Activities
There will be “wild” activities during the day to entertain everyone.  On-site entertainment will include: wildlife programs, kid's corner activities and more!

Registration
Registration will be from 7:00 a.m. until 7:45 a.m.  Each person must check in at registration upon arrival.

Route
The certified run and walk around Lexington will be about 5 kilometers or 3.1 miles long. The course starts at the Municipal Building on Maiden Street in Lexington and takes runners/walkers (R) on South Lake, (R) on Gibson Road to S. Church Street, (L) on Elm Street, (R) on 3rd Avenue, and (R) on East Main Street finishing at East Main and Maiden Lane. Click here for course map.
